CEO Update 20/01/17 – Aurora is officially one of the highest ranked Multi Academy Trusts (MATs) in the country!

Yesterday (19th Jan) the DFE published Performance Tables ranking all the Multi-Academy Trusts (MATs) in the country who have been operating schools for three years or more.  MATs were ranked on the 2016 progress measures in their portfolio of schools for Reading, Writing and Maths at KS2 (clearly we have no data as yet for KS4 at The Gatwick School)

Aurora’s results and rankings were as follows (descriptions in italics and associated numerical values are taken straight from the tables):

  • Progress in Reading – significantly above the national average (+2.0)
  • Progress in Writing – close to the national average (-0.2)
  • Progress in Maths – significantly above the national average (+1.6)

Each element above had a numerical value measure (quoted in brackets)

When the Reading numerical values are ranked, Aurora is the 8th highest MAT in England for Reading progress and the Number 1 MAT operating solely in the South East and South London Region!!

Not only that, when the Maths values are ranked, Aurora is the 11th highest MAT in England for Maths progress and the Number 2 MAT operating solely in the South East and South London region!

These high rankings make for tremendous news for us and are a testament to the work of our children, parents and staff.  It also demonstrates the strength of Aurora Academies Trust in effecting educational transformation in our schools.  In addition, these high rankings could not be better timed in terms of our current expansion plans.

All of our schools have already embarked on a two year project aimed at improving writing (called The Primary Writing Project). Achieving national average for progress in writing is fine for now but we want to be up amongst the highest ranked MATs for all three elements (as we are for Reading and Maths progress) – we can already see vast improvements in writing in all of our schools, even after just a few months.

Aurora is one of the region’s and the country’s highest ranked Multi Academy Trusts. (How good does that sound?)

This is very definitely…onwards and upwards!
