Our Mission

Our mission is to provide challenging and inspiring learning experiences designed to instil a love of learning, to guide pupils to become responsible citizens of the world, and to prepare them for success in school and in life.

Aurora Academies Trust

Aurora Academies Trust (Aurora) is a successful multi-academy trust which comprises five schools in East and West Sussex. Our schools are non-selective and free to attend.

Aurora ensures that the individual child at each academy is the centre of everything we do. The curriculum, professional development for staff and classroom environments are all planned with the specific social, emotional, and intellectual needs of the children in mind. Learning experiences are age and developmentally appropriate and designed to inspire pupils, families and teachers alike.

Structure and Responsibilities

The Aurora board of trustees has overall responsibility for the strategic direction of the trust and its academies. It delegates day to day responsibility for the running of the trust to the Chief Executive Officer. The trustees have formed a finance committee which sets and monitors the annual budget.

Local Academy Board

The role of each Local Academy Board (LAB) is to monitor standards of teaching and learning at an individual academy. All LABs have elected staff and parent members as well as co-opted members from the local community. The chair of each LAB is appointed by Aurora.

Key responsibilities of LAB members:

  • Ensuring the quality of educational provision;
  • Evaluating pupil outcomes;
  • Challenging and monitoring the performance of the academy;
  • Raising concerns and risks with the Aurora board of trustees.

 

Regional Standards Councils

Our Regional Standards Councils include the headteachers and chairs of LABs of the academies in a particular geographic cluster. The Council meetings are chaired by our Regional Directors of Education and provide a forum for school to school improvement, challenge and support.

Admissions

Our academies’ admission arrangements comply with the Admissions Code. Aurora academies are fully inclusive, are non-selective and are open to pupils of all abilities, beliefs and backgrounds.
