    Appointment of Chief Executive Officer​​​​​​​

    Aurora are delighted to be able to announce that James Freeston has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of Aurora Academies Trust from the 1st May 2023.

    James currently works for Aurora as Director of Education and Standards and has been with the trust since it was formed in 2012. He has held a number of senior roles including as Headteacher and Executive Headteacher. James also has a wealth of experience of working in and leading partnerships across the education sector. 

    Trustees want to place on record their thanks to Martha Burnige who has held the post of Interim Chief Executive Officer since January 2022. Trustees are grateful for the professionalism and skill with which Martha approached the interim role which coincided with a very successful period for the trust which included successful Ofsted outcomes and the launch of the Aurora curriculum.
